HELLO! my name is Chelsa MacKinnon and I am going to be you child's teacher this year. I can't wait to get to know your little ones and become a classroom community. I thought I would tell you a little bit about myself, I have been teaching grade 1 and 2 for the last eight and a half years so this will be my first time in ECDP and I am very excited . I am originally from Havre Boucher, Nova Scotia, which is a fifteen minute drive from Cape Breton Island. I graduated from Saint Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and the University of Maine at Fort Kent with a Bachelor of Education degree. While in the Education program I was on the deans list and also awarded the the Joan T. Sylvain Award which honors an outstanding education student who is working on a second degree. A month after completing my practicum I began my first teaching jobs in 2 beautiful communities located in Northern Manitoba. I moved to Fort McMurray three years ago to be closer to family and absolutely love being a part of this community and working at Timberlea school. My husband and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary this summer and last September we were blessed enough to welcome a baby girl into our lives. I LOVE going places! such as camping, over to friends houses, plays at Keyano, the beach or spray park, activities around Fort McMurray, or visiting Nova Scotia, basically everywhere and anywhere. I also love being a mom, being a teacher, spending time with my family and last but not least my dogs Molly and Chief.
